Ian Kerr has been Principle Timpanist of the Eugene Symphony since the 2013-14 season. He also serves as Principle Percussionist/Timpanist of the Oregon Mozart Players, is Principle Percussionist of the Newport (OR) Symphony and a frequent substitute percussionist and timpanist with the Oregon Symphony.
As an orchestral musician, Ian has played with such conductors as Giancarlo Guerrero, Marin Alsop, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Joseph Kreines, Carlos Kalmar, Matthew Mills and Miguel Harth-Bedoya and has performed with famed soloists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Inon Barnatan, Branford Marsalis, Garrick Ohlsson, Andre Watts, Stephen Hough, Joshua Roman, Renee Fleming and Jon Kimura Parker.
As a busy freelance musician, Ian has performed with such stars as Styx, Clay Aiken, Smokey Robinson, Judy Collins, Boyz 2 Men, Pink Martini, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme.
An active educator, Ian serves as Adjunct Instructor of Percussion at Pacific University and George Fox University as well as being on the music history and music theory faculty at Portland State University.
