A leading figure in Oregon Music Education for twenty years, Debbie Glaze serves as the Coordination of the Music Education Program and is a tireless advocate for the new Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Music Education degree. Her training includes degrees in Choral Conducting and Music Education, with emphasis in voice and clarinet performance. She has been a high school choral director for 17 years and the Assistant and Interim Director of the Portland Symphonic Choir.

At Portland State, she teaches courses in Choral Methods, Elementary General Music, Introduction to Music Education, and supervises student teachers. She also serves as the Music Dept. liaison to the Graduate School of Education.

Her experience in the broader field of Music Education was gained as a Music Supervisor, where she oversaw a comprehensive program of band, choirs, strings, guitar, world drumming, and general music curriculums. Additionally, she was responsible for teacher In-Service training and became interested in brain-based learning as it relates to improved music teacher education. She attended two national brain-research conferences and continues to pursue resources and new findings in this area.

On the state level, Debbie has served as the President of the Oregon Music Educator's Association, a board member of the Oregon American Choral Director's Association, and as a state certified choral adjudicator. She is active as a clinician and an adjudicator in the choral arena. She is an active member of both ACDA and MENC and is currently President of the Northwest Division of MENC.
