Join us for an evening with design leader, educator, and speaker— Forest Young!

Forest Young is a design futurist, critic, and practitioner whose work bridges academic inquiry, cultural critique, and global practice. He is currently Global Design & AI Resident at Wolff Olins, where he critically examines emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, through a design-led lens. He is a Senior Critic in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art, a distinguished MFA alumnus and Mark Whistler Prize recipient, and has previously served as an MFA Thesis Critic at RISD.

For over two decades, he has maintained Young Studio, a private design atelier producing printed matter, bespoke typefaces, exhibitions, and digital work for leading artists and cultural institutions. A founding advisor to MillerKnoll’s Diversity in Design collaborative and former board member of AIGA New York, Young’s work has been exhibited internationally and recognized with honors, including the Cannes Lions Gold Design Lion and the ADC Black Cube.

The Matthias Kemeny Design Lecture Series is coordinated and managed by students in our A+D Projects class. This series brings internationally celebrated design professionals annually to Portland to give a lecture for the benefit of the students and faculty in the Graphic Design program and the broader design community. This series is free and open to the public and highlights a wide range of design practices in an attempt to facilitate a community-wide dialogue about design and related fields. The Matthias D. Kemeny Charitable Fund of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation has made the series possible.

Organized by Portland State University Graphic Design
