The Portland State University Campus Safety Committee is an advisory group of University employees including Student employees, Faculty, Classified and Unclassified Staff.

Members volunteer or are elected from the different employee labor organizations of PSU. The committee meets at least once a month to review safety related incidents and concerns. Workplace safety inspections of campus facilities are held on a quarterly basis. Safety training sessions for members are held regularly. Recommendations resulting from employee concerns, incident review, and safety inspections are directed to campus administration.

The committee meetings are open for any PSU employee (faculty, staff, student worker) that wishes to attend.

If you have an emergency on campus, contact Campus Public Safety at 503-725-5911, or x55911.

If you have immediate or specific safety concerns at PSU, contact the Work Control Center at 503-725-2349, or x52349.

If you have general or otherwise non-immediate safety concerns at PSU contact the Safety Committee or submit a work request through the Work Control Center.

Committee Members

Members bring health and safety concerns to the committee and also relay information back to their department or groups. Members are asked to serve a minimum of two years on the committee but may remain for as long as they wish. Members are also responsible for attending at least eight of the 12 annual meetings and may be asked to step down if lack of participation is a concern to the committee.

A list of current committee members may be found on the Campus Safety Committee Members webpage.

We're happy to have you! If you are interested in becoming a member please contact the Campus Safety Committee group. A member of the group will reach out to provide more details.
