American Heart Association

Heart disease affects nearly 8% of all Americans and results in nearly 350,000 deaths each year.  While several electrical abnormalities can result in sudden cardiac arrest, the majority begin with ventricular fibrillation.  Rapid treatment of ventricular fibrillation, through the application of a controlled electrical shock, is essential to the victim's survival. Becoming familiar with how and when to use an AED puts you in a position to provide the necessary help to your colleagues when it’s most needed.

PSU AED Program

The PSU AED Program was established to meet the State of Oregon's rules related to placement, access, and requirements for use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). AEDs are routinely inspected by EHS staff to ensure functionality and are serviced as needed. They are placed throughout campus, including athletic facilities and areas with large event spaces.
