PSU History
I started teaching at PSU as an adjunct professor in 2015. In 2019 I transitioned to my current position as an Assistant Professor.
Experience
I have 15 years of social work practice experience in various settings including: children’s mental health, child abuse and neglect, child welfare, pediatric health care, and community collaboration, primarily with communities of color.
Academic/Research Interests
I teach human development and social work practice courses, primarily in the BSW Program. My pedagogy is influenced by my direct practice and community-based experiences. I enjoy incorporating my professional and personal lived experiences into the classroom setting. My research interests include: racial and ethnic identity development, Black/African American children/youth, healing and liberation for racial equity and social justice, experiences of first generation and students of color in higher education, culturally responsive & trauma-informed pedagogy, and culturally responsive research methodologies.
Personal Interests
I enjoy reading, writing/journaling, dancing, watching documentaries, traveling (domestic & international), and spending time in nature. I also love quality time with my children and family.
