PSU School of Social Work Positions

 

Senior Fiscal Officer | Portland State University School of Social Work

Position Description:

The Senior Fiscal Officer (SFO) manages the operations, financial planning, human resources and fiscal activities of the School. This is a 12-month, unclassified and unrepresented position, and reports to the Dean of the School. This position directly supervises classified and unclassified staff and has dotted line relationships with fiscal and administrative staff within the SSW research and sponsored projects units.

  • Financial Management – Responsible for forecasting, budget development, allocation, accounting reporting and monitoring School resources which comprise state funds, tuition dollars, fees, grants and contracts, and foundation funds.
  • Human Resources – Responsible for supervising classified and unclassified staff, preparing hiring contracts, overseeing HR functions for the School and providing guidance on recruitment, evaluations, and policies and procedures.
  • Operations – Responsible for operations management including space and equipment. Update policies and procedures for continuous improvement in the School.
  • Leadership – Provide leadership around strategic planning activities at the program, School, and university levels. Represent the School on numerous university committees and initiatives regarding finance, administration, human resources and research activities. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance or related field
  • 6+ years of relevant financial and administrative experience
  • Experience managing the diverse and complex fiscal activities of an organization
  • High degree of attention to detail and follow through
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing small to large budgets
  • Experience working in higher education/government environment
  • Understanding of HR principles/policies/employee relations

Quantitative Analyst Graduate Intern| Oregon Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Needs 

•    Become acquainted with the NSCH, its data structure, and the Maternal Child Health Bureau’s (MCHB) Blueprint for Change for CYSHCN; 
•    Help to finalize the analysis plan, ensuring that results will center equity while addressing research questions;
•    Conduct quantitative analyses according to the analysis plan;
•    Propose and conduct follow-up analyses based on preliminary findings and team discussions;
•    Summarize findings in a brief report, using tables and figures to visualize data;
•    Collaborate with OCCYSHN’s A&E unit to strategize how to interpret findings and incorporate them into its needs assessment report.

Prevention Specialist 2 | Linn County

The Linn County Alcohol & Drug Program provides prevention and treatment services to adults and youth. The Prevention Specialist position is a specific position within the Addiction Specialist classification.  The individual in this position will work closely with other prevention staff to provide youth substance use prevention, problem gambling prevention and mental health promotion and prevention services to youth, adults, schools, and local communities.

Counselor II (STEP) | Volunteers of America - Oregon

The Counselor II (STEP) provides compassionate and trauma-informed mental health and addiction counseling services. This position interacts with a multidisciplinary team comprised of counselors, parole officers, mentors, and employment specialists. This position will primarily serve clients in criminal justice diversion or reentry Outpatient Services, particularly those who have been referred through the Multnomah County STEP Court.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally-informed individual and group counseling services congruent with evidence based treatment models.
  • Conduct substance abuse assessments, substance abuse diagnoses and make client placement decisions using standardized instruments, ASAM, and DSM criteria.
  • Identify client mental health concerns for referral and further assessment.  If the employee is a Qualified Mental Health Professional, the expectation is that he/she will conduct mental health assessments and make diagnoses using DSM-V TR criteria.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for re-entry individuals in consultation with the client, the client’s family (when appropriate), and representatives of community partners.
  • Complete and maintain, in electronic medical records, accurate and timely treatment documentation including progress notes; treatment plans; court reports; assessments and summaries; and termination summaries.
