Goal 1: Innovate the curriculum to be responsive to the needs of ever-evolving industry in technology and engineering advancement

Goal 2: Expand and enhance the research focus of the department in the areas of design and manufacturing, thermal and fluid sciences, advanced material science and engineering.

  • In the area of design and manufacturing, our emphasis is agile and adaptive robotics, mechatronics, and controls, advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing, innovative machining and joining processes.
  • In the area of thermal and fluid science, our emphasis is transport phenomena at multiple scales, focusing on indoor and urban environmental quality, renewable energy, human health, energy efficiency, fluid-structure interactions, and the environment. 
  • In the area of advanced materials and manufacturing, our emphasis is   semiconductor materials, 2D materials, 3D printing materials, metal/mental alloys and their fabrication processes as well as the materials’ applications in Nano-technology.
