Anam Khan

Advanced Practicum Trainee

Anam (uh-nuhm) is an advanced practicum psychology student from Pacific University in my 4th year. Anam is passionate about working with children of immigrants, survivors of various forms of trauma, and individuals from marginalized populations who typically are not represented within our field. As a Muslim, South Asian clinician, Anam strives to work through a non-Western lens emphasizing collectivist values and a de-colonial framework. Outside of clinical work, Anam enjoys all things Halloween and horror related. They also have their own small baking business and enjoy being creative when they can make the time!


Nikki Bruce 

Advanced Practicum Trainee

Nikki (she/her) is a doctoral trainee completing her advanced practicum at PSU's SHAC this year ('23-'24). She received her Master's degree from Pacific University where she is also pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Nikki has clinical experience working in community mental health and college counseling settings, and enjoys working with diverse populations. She meets clients where they are at with an integrated, developmental, and collaborative approach to care. Clinical areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, complex trauma, attachment, identity exploration and development, multicultural and interpersonal approaches, and process-oriented therapy. Nikki is excited to be a part of PSU's community this year and is looking forward to collaborating and learning from those she works with. When she is not in the clinic or in class, you can find Nikki running around playing Ultimate Frisbee, spending time with friends and family, painting or spending time with her dog.


Erin Bush

Counselor Education Trainee

Erin is currently a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at PSU and received their undergraduate degree in Psychology from Oregon State University. Erin has a variety of experience working with children, adults, and families in community mental health and most recently as a student counselor at the PSU Community Counseling Clinic. They are passionate about providing trauma-informed care to individuals of all identities and take a strengths-based approach to their work. Erin believes that all individuals can thrive when given the tools and opportunities to do so. Their clinical interests include working with life transitions, navigating relationships, stress, self-esteem, and identity exploration. In Erin's free time, they enjoy anything outdoors- hiking, camping, kayaking, as well as cooking, reading, and spending time with my dog and family.


Jingyi Luan

Social Work Trainee

Jingyi grew up in Beijing, China. She came to the US at age 15 by herself. Jingyi graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Human Services. She is currently getting her Master's degree in Social Work at Portland State University. Twelve years of being an International student, she's passionate about racial identity development, cultural adaptation, social justice, and trauma-informed and culturally diverse care. Some of her hobbies are reading, swimming, painting, cooking, music, and playing with my dog at the park.


Alexis Washam

Social Work Trainee

Alexis arrived in Oregon in 2022 from the East Coast. She will graduate from PSU’s MSW program in 2024 and hopes to pursue a second career in psychotherapy and counseling. In a previous life, she worked as an editor at Penguin Random House, where she acquired and edited fiction and nonfiction by a range of award-winning and bestselling authors. After leaving New York City for Pennsylvania in 2018, she enrolled in Temple University’s MSW program before transferring to Portland State, where she has finally realized her dream of living in Oregon with her family. Alexis received her BA in Literature and Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston and has also studied at Bard College and New York University. When not working or studying she enjoys hot yoga, helping her kids with art projects, and exploring the natural beauty of the Northwest.


Jana Zahler

Social Work Trainee

Jana (she/her, cishet, white-bodied, female), originally from Oregon, is currently working on her Master’s of Social Work at Portland State University. At SHAC, Jana’s role is Case Management. Her theoretical framework is informed by the Bio-Psyco-Social model and Polyvagal Theory. She has experience giving trauma-informed care while navigating through times of crisis with children, families, and individuals. She is passionate about racial and wealth disparities within the child welfare system, and strives to practice with an anti-oppressive and transformative justice lens. In her Undergrad, Jana studied Dance and Sociology. Since then, she has continued to love to dance, became a Licenced Massage Therapist, and completed a four-year somatic therapy training program called Core Energetics. When Jana is not at school or work, you can find her dancing, making art, or spending time with her dog, cat, and friends.


Nicolette Gregg

Assessment Practicum Trainee

Nicolette (she/her) is originally from California. She went to the University of California, Santa Cruz, for undergrad. She completed her first Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London in England, for a year before moving to Oregon to begin her PsyD degree at Pacific University. She completed her second Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Pacific University and is now a 4th-year student in her PsyD program. She has joined SHAC for this 2023-2024 academic year as a Psychology Assessment Trainee. She enjoys playing the flute, reading for fun, creative writing, traveling, and watching old Hollywood movies in her free time.


Natasha Moody

Social Work Trainee

Natasha (she/her) was born in the vibrant city of Baku, Azerbaijan, but her family had to flee the war to the south of Russia when she was a child. As a young adult, she immigrated to the United States, eventually settling in the Pacific Northwest.Living in three different counties exposed Natasha to a multitude of languages, traditions, and perspectives, igniting her passion for multi-cultural settings. During the pandemic, she realized a strong need to care for her community and became a culturally specific Peer Support Specialist. She has since been involved in peer education and DVSA advocacy amongst refugees and immigrants. Natasha is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at Portland State University, with an expected graduation in the summer of 2024. She loves being on the PSU campus both as a student and a counseling intern at SHAC. She is deeply rooted in community care principles and wants to support folks with integrating various life experiences. In her free time, Natasha enjoys being with friends and family, exploring new cities, hiking in nature, reading, and organizing community events and book clubs.
