The Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP) helps you apply classroom learning through internships that give you a competitive edge in the job market. Many students are hired by their internship companies and make an immediate impact in the workplace. Open to students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, MECOP accepts applications during the sophomore year, typically between mid-February and early April, with admission being highly competitive.

Majors: You must be pursuing a degree in BA, CE, CpE, CS, EE, EnvE, ME, or Surv.

GPA: Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.

Upper-Division Coursework: You must have completed the necessary courses to begin your major's upper-division coursework by the Fall Term of the upcoming academic year. If you're applying during the Fall Selection supplementary window, you should have already started these courses to be on track for your internship.

MECOP Required Courses: You must complete all MECOP-required courses for your discipline before your first scheduled internship.

Internship Availability: Your curriculum must allow for two six-month internships and at least one term of coursework upon your return, prior to graduation. Remember, you won't be taking classes during your full-time internships.

Pilot Disciplines: If your discipline is a pilot program with MECOP (check the participating disciplines table), you'll only need to complete one internship to qualify.

Program Agreements: You must be able and willing to consent to the MECOP Inc. Student Participation Agreement and the MECOP Inc. Records Use Consent Agreement.

Sophomore Year: As you complete your lower-division courses, you can apply for MECOP, typically in February or March. Be sure to check the calendar for specific deadlines and review the application page for details. To qualify for an interview, you must meet the minimum program requirements.

Junior Year: You'll begin your upper-division coursework. In the fall (usually November), attend the MECOP Company Expo and student webinars to prepare for your first internship. Interviews typically take place in January, with your first internship beginning in either the spring/summer or summer/fall term, depending on your discipline. Refer to the list of standard internship timeframes for more information.

Senior Year: Continue your upper-division coursework. In the fall (usually November), you'll again attend the MECOP Company Expo. Your second internship interviews generally occur in January, leading to an internship in either the spring/summer or summer/fall term.
