Communications

Overview

Electronic communication can be defined as, the communication which uses electronic media to transmit the information or message using computers, e-mail, telephone, video calling, social networks, etc. This type of communication can be developed by sharing data like images, graphics, sound, pictures, maps, software, and many things. For example, 5G have started hitting the market and will continue to expand worldwide. Beyond the significant improvement of speed and latency, 5G is expected to unleash a massive IoT (Internet of Things) ecosystem where networks can serve communication needs for billions of connected devices, with the right trade-offs between speed, latency, and cost.

A graduate degree is usually required in order to obtain an engineering position in telecommunication industries, from system developers, IC makers, service carriers, to testing and measurements. Our graduate track is designed to provide this knowledge and prepare students for successful careers for both those seeking a job in industry upon graduation and those planning to continue on to graduate programs and research careers.

Prerequisites

Students who begin this track should have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of signals, systems, and transforms. Students who have taken ECE 315, 316 and 317 (or equivalent) will be well prepared for this specialization.

Please note that some of the courses listed below may not show up in DARS yet. If you have any questions about required Communications track courses please ask your advisor.
