The Office of Licensure in the College of Education (COE) is responsible for processing license recommendations for COE program completers of our nationally and regionally accredited programs. Educators seeking licensure are recommended to Oregon’s Teacher Standards and Practices Commission, and to all other states.

Before beginning your first field placement, you must successfully complete a background check through TSPC, as well as their Civil Rights & Ethics course. Fingerprint clearance is required by Oregon State Law to be completed through TSPC, and the Civil Rights & Ethics course is required by TSPC. When you have completed a licensure program in the COE, you’re ready to apply for your Oregon educator license. Scroll down this page to the Licensure Instructions buttons, and select the one for your license.

Finishing all program requirements:

  • Courses
  • Test(s)
  • edTPA (if required for your program)
  • Student teaching or practicum
  • Fingerprint clearance through TSPC
  • Civil Rights & Ethics course

TSPC Scholarship and Expense Information

Diversity License Expense Reimbursements: The Diversity License Expense Reimbursement Program is designed to assist educators meeting the definition of “diverse” according to ORS 342.433 with expenses related to the cost of becoming licensed. Eligible expenses must have been paid by the applicant, and directly related to the process for becoming a licensed educator.

Oregon Administrator Scholars Program: The Oregon Administrator Scholars Program (OASP) is offering scholarships up to a maximum of $10,000 for racially or linguistically diverse administrator candidates accepted and enrolled in an approved administrator program. The scholarships may be used to pay for classes, fees, and related costs.
