The Oregon Health Authority and the Center for Public Service at Portland State University partnered to assess disaster communication within Black, Indigenous, People of Color and Tribes. The purpose of the assessment had two focuses 1) to identify how diverse community groups prefer to receive information, and 2) to identify how they prefer to be engaged in preparing for Cascadia subduction zone earthquakes and major wildfires. The intent of the assessment is to offer insights to risk communication and preparedness experts with a glimpse into understanding how Black, Indigenous, People of Color and Tribes view natural disaster information.
