A steamroller is coming to the Jordan Schnitzer School of Art—and you’re invited to see printmaking on a massive scale.
Using large carved woodblocks created from drawings, textures, collage, and collected materials, we’ll produce oversized prints with the help of a real steamroller. This is BIG printmaking at its boldest: inked surfaces, immense pressure, and a machine rolling directly over the work to create striking, layered impressions.
No printmaking experience? No problem. This event is open to anyone curious about the creative process and eager to see how something this BIG comes together. The entire process unfolds live—from inking the blocks and carefully positioning the paper to revealing each finished print as the steamroller rolls through.
We’ll be printing on both paper and fabric, and you’re welcome to bring your own T-shirt, cloth, or paper to print on as well.
The prints created during the event will become part of our new building, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Jordan Schnitzer School and capturing the energy, creativity, and community that helped bring it to life.
Free and open to the public.
