Internships

Gaining Work Experience

With our location in the heart of Oregon's technology and industry base, students at the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (Maseeh College) enjoy many opportunities to participate in internships or other cooperative work experience programs. Most Maseeh College students either participate in an internship or work as a part-time or full-time employee in their field before they graduate. Maseeh College graduates are in demand as full-time employees in part because of their experience in real-world engineering and computer science through internships, MECOP/CECOP, capstones, and direct work experience.

Internship Information:

Most engineering and computer science internship opportunities are one-term work assignments, often occurring during the summer, but not always. Internships can be full or part-time, depending on employer requirements and student availability. Internship programs seek to match student educational goals with company needs, and provide practical engineering or computer science experiences that reinforce the student's academic education.

Engineering and Computer Science internship opportunities are communicated to Maseeh College students through their academic departments, the Engineering Career Services office and the PSU Career Center. Students seeking internship opportunities should visit each on a regular basis. For more information about internships, please see the internship FAQs, contact Engineering Career Services or contact your department.

MECOP/CECOP

MECOP - Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program, CECOP - Civil Engineering Cooperative Program
MECOP/CECOP is a cooperative industrial program designed to team up students with business and industry. The five-year undergraduate program includes two, six-month paid internships. This hands-on experience allows students to immediately apply what they are learning in class and gives them a competitive edge when they graduate. MECOP/CECOP students are often sought after by the companies with which they interned during the program, and are able to be immediate contributors in the workplace.

Interested students should apply at the end of their sophomore year. Normally, applications are accepted between March 1 and April 10. Admission to the program is competitive.

At PSU, MECOP is available to students in:

  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

CECOP is an identical program for Civil Engineering Students
