Out of State Opportunity Scholarship

Portland State University awards the Out of State Opportunity Scholarship (OOS) to academically qualified incoming domestic (non-international) Freshmen and Transfer students who meet specific criteria.

Criteria and Award Amounts

Freshman Applicants

Incoming students will be notified via email in early 2019 if they have received the OOS.

OOS is renewable for up to 12 academic terms for incoming freshman students and 6 academic terms for incoming transfer students. Out of State Opportunity Scholarship recipients are required to enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per term and 36 credits per year, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to maintain their award.

Students receiving the Out of State Opportunity Scholarship can not be Co-Admitted (dual enrolled) with a community college. 

PSU Scholarship Opportunities

The Out of State Opportunity Scholarship award is automatically awarded to students based on the above criteria and submission of an application to PSU for fall term by July 1. If an applicant does not meet the requirements for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) they will be considered for the Out of State Opportunity Scholarship. An applicant may be awarded WUE or an OOS, but not both.
