Toxic Stress and Trauma at PSU

Workshops and Trainings

Mental Health Promotion staff are available to collaborate with your student serving program (resource center, academic department, campus business, etc.) in order to create a customized training focused on the mental health needs of the students and the staff or faculty within your program.

These trainings include, but are not limited to, the following: an overview of trauma and toxic stress and its effect on the brain, most recent data and research on the mental health and wellness of PSU students, the collective impact of overwhelm within our communities, and an exploration of how the principles of trauma informed care may be applied in your program in order to best serve students.

If you are interested in a training or workshop please complete the interest form.

University Studies Collaboration

Mental Health Promotion and members of the UNST Peer Mentor program are working together to create a progressive trauma-informed training curriculum for UNST Peer Mentors. These trainings will assist Peer Mentors in their ability to support students, take care of themselves while taking care of others and facilitate trauma-informed peer mentor sessions.

If you are a Peer Mentor or a Peer Mentor program, working with students anywhere on campus, and are  interested in developing core trainings and curriculum that support student mental health please contact the Mental Health Support Specialist, Amy Ruff - amy.ruff@pdx.edu.

Hands in together supporting each other.
