1. In layman’s terms, what does your field of engineers/computer scientists do?
It is like the master planner of enterprise technology, application, data, and infrastructure systems. By designing and coordinating these pieces of technology to work together seamlessly, they help the enterprise's goals and create efficient, effective solutions. Collaborating with business leaders and Information Technology teams, staying up-to-date with emerging technologies, and shaping our technology vision are all crucial steps in realizing our overall business objectives.
2. What is your background?
I grew up in the western part of India in the Blue City of Jodhpur. My work brought me here in the USA around 2014 and I moved to this region around the same time.
3. What was your educational path?
I did my undergrad in the early 2000s back in India and later I have been working in various roles within the Information Technology industry for years. In the year 2020, I decided to pursue a Master of Science in Computer Science from Portland State University to keep myself relevant to the technological advancements that are happening around research and academic fields.
4. Why did you choose Maseeh College at PSU?
Choosing Maseeh College at Portland State University was an obvious decision due to its local presence, positive reviews, and great faculties.
5. What was your favorite aspect/experience/moment/class/professor at Maseeh College?
It was a holistic experience that I had with PSU and its community. The kind of experience I gained from the diverse setting of lectures, relatability with the practical exposure, learning from peers, and the vastness of research-driven experiences were quite a few of them.
6. Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for current Maseeh College students?
Always try to correlate the learning that we are pursuing with the curriculum and the practical aspects of the same in the real-world setting. We have great resources at PSU and take full leverage of the same.
7. Do you have any advice for high students/young people/aspiring engineers or computer scientists?
Learning never goes to waste. Stay relevant and try to find ways to apply these learnings. Education gives all of us the right platform where we can propel ourselves in a real-world setting.
8. How did Maseeh College help you prepare for your career?
It helped me to understand the ongoing changes in the technological world and make me relevant when it comes to understanding the evolving landscape of emerging technologies and the impact of the same around our various ecosystems.
9. Please share any career highlights, awards/recognition you've received and/or accomplishments you're most proud of.
Every aspect of my career is an accomplishment in itself. I get a chance to watch closely how organizations are utilizing technologies to make a better place for different sectors in our daily lives. I am privileged to be part of such groups and teams.
10. What are you most hopeful about in terms of engineering/computer science and/or engineering/computer science future innovations in your field?
Relevancy and being closer to the research community. The impact of technology to help make our daily lives better is something that I always like to learn when understanding and learning these streams.
