The College of Education processes licensure recommendations for completers of our nationally and regionally-accredited programs. When program and licensure requirements are complete, eligible candidates are recommended to Oregon’s Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC), or when applicable, the licensing agency in another state.
This page provides an overview of the licensure requirements for each program. Before You Begin
Before beginning your field placement, you must complete two Oregon licensure requirements:
- Fingerprinting and background clearance: Complete TSPC’s fingerprint and background clearance process. Fingerprint clearance is required by Oregon law. Additional fees may apply as outlined by TSPC.
- Civil rights and ethics training: Complete the required Civil Rights & Ethics Training course. Candidates seeking an added endorsement or principal license do not need to complete this training because they previously completed the requirement as part of their preliminary teaching license.
