2013-14 Visiting Writers

The MFA in Creative Writing and the PSU Department of English are pleased to welcome a distinguished group of visiting writers for 2013-14.

The 2014 Tin House Writer-in-Residence at PSU will be announced in September. Our visiting author will teach the Spring term core workshop in nonfiction, contribute to the Tin House Blog and give a public reading in April 2014. Previous recipients of this residency are poet Joanna Klink and nonfiction writer Amy Stewart.

Karen Russell is the featured writer for this year's Tin House/MFA Master Class Seminar, which will be taught by MFA Fiction Faculty Charles D'Ambrosio in Spring 2014. Karen and Charlie will team up for the Master Class Interview in May 2014. Russell is the third author in a series that featured Anthony Doerr in 2012 and Maggie Nelson in 2013.

The keynote speaker for the PSU English Department's 50th Annual Kellogg Awards is award-winning author George Saunders. He will give a reading and lecture on Monday, May 12, 2014. Past Kellogg keynote speakers include Junot Diaz, Tobias Wolff, and Leslie Marmon Silko.

The final schedule for the Annual MFA Reading Series will be announced in October, 2013. The readings will be held on campus most Thursday nights during the year. Visiting writers previously reading in this series include D.A. Powell, Eileen Myles, and Tom Grimes.
