Estimate Costs

Your cost of attendance will vary based on your major, the number of credits you take, your residency status, your class standing, and many other factors.

Tuition & Fees
Portland State is committed to providing an excellent education at an affordable cost, along with the opportunities and connections that come with being located in one of the nation’s most exciting cities. We keep our academic standards high and our tuition low. Our goal is to help you succeed and graduate with as little debt as possible.

Your tuition and fees cost is determined each term based on the number of credits you take, residency status, and class standing. Undergraduate students majoring in programs in The School of Business, Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of the Arts, and University Honors College pay differential tuition. A majority of graduate student programs charge differential tuition.

Undergraduate Students

When estimating your total cost of attendance include tuition and fees, books and supplies, housing and meals, personal expenses, and transportation per year. Students should also understand whether or not they'll be considered a resident for tuition purposes.

International Students

All admitted international students are automatically considered for merit scholarships of up to $10,000 per year. International students are also encouraged to apply for scholarships through the PSU Scholarship Application. International students are also required to provide evidence of adequate financial support for at least their first year of study.

Graduate Students

Graduate Students can estimate the cost of tuition and fees for their program by credit. We encourage you to factor in books and supplies, housing and meals, personal expenses, and transportation.

Free and Discounted Tuition Programs

See if you’re eligible for one of our free or discounted tuition programs. Nearly two-thirds of PSU students receive financial aid, and the average student receives more than $11,000 per year.

In addition to tuition and fees, you’ll need to account for housing and meals costs, living expenses, books and supplies, parking/transportation, and health insurance. Students are not required to live on campus, many students live at home or in housing off-campus.

Net Price Calculator

This calculator is intended to provide estimated net price information to current and prospective students and their families based on what similar students paid in a previous year. Net price information is defined as estimated cost of attendance including tuition and required fees, books and supplies, housing and meals, and other related expenses minus estimated grant and scholarship aid.
