Apply for PSU Scholarships

To apply for all Portland State scholarships visit the PSU Scholarship Universe portal. Scholarship Universe is now closed for the 2025–26 academic year. Students who have been awarded should have already received a notification. If you have not received notification you were not selected. We encourage you to apply again when the 2026-2027 application cycle opens November 1, 2025.

PSU has various scholarship deadlines between March 1 and May 15. Please check the scholarships for which you are applying for submission deadlines.

1. Apply for Financial Aid

PSU awards federal and state aid to students who submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Submission of the FAFSA is not required, but recommended. The financial information on the FAFSA is used to determine need. Even if you do not qualify for grants, the FAFSA can be an essential part of winning scholarships. Students who are not eligible to submit the FAFSA, can submit the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA).

2. Apply for Scholarships

PSU awards thousands of dollars in scholarships each year through the PSU Scholarship Application: Scholarship Universe, which includes an integrated search engine for more than 12,000 scholarships that are sponsored and managed by individuals and organizations that are not affiliated with Portland State University.

3. Check Your pdx.edu Email

Check your pdx.edu email regularly after you submit the FAFSA. The Office of Student Financial Aid may follow up with requests for verification for your financial aid application. You may be required to submit additional or updated documentation or information.

4. Accept Your Financial Aid Offer

You will receive an email notification that your financial aid award offer has been posted.

Departmental Scholarships
The PSU Scholarship Application is used to award both general (non-degree specific) as well as programmatic, departmental, and college-specific scholarships. Not all scholarships are awarded through the PSU application, contact your department, school, or college to find out if they offer other scholarship opportunities.

Notification
Scholarship recipients will receive notifications by the end of April via their pdx.edu email address. Scholarships will be added to your financial aid award offers for the upcoming school year. If a scholarship requires full-time enrollment, you will be informed when notified about receiving the scholarship. Enrollment requirements vary, please review the acceptance criteria. Recipients can review the scholarship acceptance criteria by logging in to Scholarship Universe.
