Hydrosocial Stories at PSU

This mini conference highlighted the connections between water and society, bringing together faculty, students and water professional to share their love of water through research, scholarship and creative work. Water Consonants by Janet Cowal

Created by PSU Applied Linguistics professor Janet Cowal, this piece samples water sounds from Eagle Creek, OR. Using Praat and FL Studio, Janet shows how river shapes filter water like mouths shape airflow, producing fricative frequencies called “Water Consonants.”
