All incoming first-year students whose cumulative unweighted high school GPA is below a 3.0 are required to participate in either:
- Summer Scholars Program + 1 credit workshop fall, winter, and spring term
OR - Complete the UNST 194 course in fall term + 1 credit workshop fall, winter, and spring term
OR - Participate in one of PSU's Multicultural Retention Services Programs (ACCESS, EMPOWER, GANAS, or NATIONS) or TRIO SSS + 1 credit workshop fall, winter, and spring term
Students are admitted with the condition of participation. Holistic year-round support is provided.
The Scholars Program project coordinator will check registration throughout the summer to ensure all students who meet the criteria are enrolled in the Summer Scholars Program or UNST 194 in the fall.
If the student fails to successfully complete one of the three options by the end of first term, their admission will be rescinded.
