Research Development Overview

In 2024, the Office of Research & Graduate Studies (RGS) formally launched the Research Development program, which is is dedicated to providing researchers with the training and tools necessary to advance the culture of research and creative activities across the PSU community. Research Innovation at PSU is defined by our researchers who build knowledge and impact at regional, national, and global scales via a wide range of scholarly activities such as novel discovery and translational work in the engineering and sciences, transformational work in the social sciences, impactful scholarship in the humanities, and the production of inspiring creative works and performances in the arts, among many others.

The Research Development team provides resources, services and programs to help faculty and their teams enhance their grant-seeking skills and prepare more compelling, competitive proposals.

The Research Development team provides resources to faculty to identify funding opportunities. This includes coordinating internal funding opportunities, overseeing the limited submission process when the number of proposals  a university can submit is restricted, and providing faculty with access to advanced search tools such as GrantForward to more effectively identify new funding opportunities.

Research Development Office provides a number of resources to faculty as they begin to develop new research proposals and projects. Examples of resources include standard proposal templates and "best practice" guidelines.

The Research Development team offers a number of services to support PIs as they navigate complex proposal submissions. Services range from providing assistance on obtaining institutional letters of support, high-level consulting on funding opportunities to strategic proposal development support for large, complex proposals.

The Research Development team offers a variety of focused workshops, 1:1 meetings and in-depth cohort-based training opportunities to help faculty enhance their grant seeking skills. Note: Applications for our Fall 2025 Catalyst Institute Immersive Program are now open!
