By transforming localized data into sound, the installation challenges the way we engage with complex social dilemmas. Each layer of sound corresponds to themes such as women's healthcare disparities, the closure of community spaces, land use and biodiversity loss, and the intricate dynamics of political engagement and immigration. Through this auditory experience, the installation invites the audience to confront their own choices—between connection and disconnection, empathy and apathy. The work serves as a poignant reminder of the necessity to look up from our screens and actively participate in the world around us, emphasizing the importance of participation and communal responsibility in an increasingly fragmented society. This event is part of the Rewire Festival, a creative extravaganza featuring the diverse talents of Sonic Arts and Music Production program students in collaboration with PSU Theater lighting design students. Events include a songwriting showcase, a large-scale sound installation, and performances by the SAMP Laptop Ensemble.Learn more about the School of Music & Theater's Sonic Arts and Music Production program. arts, culture & entertainment music + theater
