  1. Christine Cress, education faculty, Matthew Gebhardt, urban studies and planning faculty, William “Harry” York, University Honors College, Michelle Illuminato, Art + Design faculty, Priya Kapoor, international and global studies faculty, and Michelle Swinehart, university studies, were selected for the Stevens Initiative Connected Classrooms Project to provide PSU students the opportunity to form friendships and gain meaningful international experience. PSU is one of 15 institutions selected in Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and the United States to participate in the project over the next two years.
  2. Mitch Cruzan, biology faculty, was interviewed for the Q&A article “Fascination of Plants Day: Interview with a Plant Scientist,” published by Oxford University Press’s OUPblog.
  3. Karen Gibson, urban studies and planning faculty, was one of 16 individuals to be selected for the 2021 Urban Affairs Association (UAA) Distinguished Service Honor Roll, which recognizes the organization’s most impactful service leaders.
  4. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, appeared on KGW News on April 20 and on KATU Channel 2’s AM Northwest and Afternoon Live  on April 21 to discuss the impact of the Derek Chauvin trial’s guilty verdict.
  5. Mellie Pullman, business faculty, has been honored as a best reviewer by the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management. 
  6. Amanda Sugimoto, curriculum and instruction faculty, was named the 2021 College of Education Researcher of the Year.
