Program of study

To earn a certificate in Early Childhood Education, you will complete any 12 credits from the general list of courses, with the exception of the "core" courses which are restricted to currently admitted Early Childhood: Inclusive Education masters students.

Check the Master in Early Childhood program schedule to see the updated offerings for classes over the coming two years. All classes are fully online unless indicated otherwise.

  • Any of the 410/510 classes are available for certificate students. Students enrolled in a degree program have priority.
  • Undergraduate classes are 400 level. Graduate classes are 500 level.
  • The following CORE masters classes are not available for certificate students: ECED 550, 551, 552, 553 & CI 590, 591.

Program completion

The PSU Certificate of Completion in Early Childhood Education program does not require admission, can be taken at the undergraduate or graduate level, and there are no prerequisites or required sequence.

Once you have completed the 12-credits in approved ECE classes you should complete and submit the Request Form below to have your certificate awarded. If you are already admitted into the master's degree in Early Childhood, you are not eligible for the certificate. This process is not part of the PSU degree graduation.
