PSU's online graduate scholarship application for the 2019-20 academic year is closed. The 2020-21 scholarship application will open on October 1, 2019.

Scholarships in the COE

The College of Education (COE) awards over 50 scholarships to incoming and current students in master's, doctoral, and/or licensure programs. Just complete one online application and you will automatically be considered for all applicable COE scholarships. Scholarship calendar

  • February 1, 2019 at 11:59pm PST: PSU's online graduate scholarship application closes; your application must be complete to be considered.
  • At the end of March 2019: We will begin to notify award recipients. Please note that you need to be admitted to a COE program before you will be notified if you are a scholarship recipient.

The 2019-20 scholarship application is now closed. The 2020-21 scholarship application will open on October 1, 2019.

Eligibility

  • All admitted incoming and current COE students
  • Completing a master's, doctoral, graduate certificate, and/or licensure program
  • Attending PSU any term of the next academic year (2019-20)

Online scholarship application

Apply for all COE scholarships through PSU's online graduate scholarship application. Complete this one application, and based on your responses you will be considered for all scholarships for which you meet the criteria. You may also choose to complete applicable parts of the Graduate School section to be considered for OGS-administered funds such as the Laurels Graduate Award.

TIPS

  • The scholarship application is separate from the graduate program application, and we encourage you to complete both in the same timeframe. Scholarships are only awarded to admitted and current PSU students.
  • Start your application early. Reviewers look for passionate and well-written personal stories. Hearing your voice is important!
  • Edit and spellcheck your essays. Remember to have someone proofread them too.
  • If you will not be filing a FAFSA but do want to be considered for need-based scholarships, you should complete a Student Budget form (this is also linked to in the scholarship application). FAFSA-filers should NOT submit the budget form.
  • Seek out and ask for recommendations early. Recommendations must be submitted by February 1st (this is a hard deadline). Two recommendations are required, and the application allows for three submissions. (Fewer than 2 recommendations will be an automatic elimination from consideration.)
  • Don't forget to click "SUBMIT" at the end of the application. No changes may be made after submitting - however letters of recommendation can still be received until the deadline.

Starting your application

  • Visit PSU's online scholarship application. If you are a first time user, click "Create Account" and note your username and password so you will be able to log in again later. Or, if you have already created an online PSU scholarship application account, click "Log in here" with your username and password.
  • Read through the application first to familiarize yourself with its sections (the application is updated every year). Gather the information you will need to complete the application. Jot down the essay questions which apply to you.
  • Complete the PSU Graduation Application section, and the College of Education section. You may also choose to complete applicable parts of the Office of Graduate Studies section.

Saving and returning

The scholarship application may seem lengthy, but you can stop, save your work, and come back to your application at any time. Be sure to hit "Save & Logout" before you exit.

Finishing your application

You must click "Submit application" when you are done with your application, or your application will not be sent for consideration. Note: you may do this before your recommendations are all submitted. By clicking "Submit application," you indicate that you have finished your entry in the application. After you do this, your recommenders may still submit their recommendations up until February 1, 2018 at 11:59pm PST. However, once you hit the "Submit application" button, you will not be able to change anything you entered in your application, so only do this when you are sure you are finished (but don't put it off and forget to do it!).

Award notifications and disbursements

Official notification of scholarship and other financial aid awards will come from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (not from the COE) via email starting in the month of March. If you do not request any change, scholarship disbursements will be given in Fall term (for awards up to $1500) or split equally between Fall, Winter, and Spring term for larger awards. Attendance at PSU is mandatory and award recipients will be required to accept or decline their awards in Banweb. Declined scholarships will be awarded to an alternate recipient. A thank you letter is also required of scholarship recipients.
