We are happy to announce that Jana Meinhold has been hired as the Child, Youth, and Family Studies Program Director beginning Winter 2024.

Jana was hired in the fall of 2004 as fixed-term faculty in the then Child and Family Studies program, while she was in her final year of completing her PhD at Oregon State University. Since then she's been promoted to tenure-line Assistant Professor in 2007 and Associate Professor in 2014. Jana is a Certified Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations and was the Board Chair of the North West Council on Family Relations (NWCFR) from 2015-2020. She's also been involved in a number of leadership positions for initiatives/collaborations at PSU such as the Early Childhood Council and the Community Partnership for Health and Equity. Jana is active in supporting undergraduate research at PSU through the McNair, Honors, and Build EXITO programs.

Her areas of interest include: Family Transitions, Sibling Relationships across the Lifespan, Grief and Loss, and Family and Community Health Equity. When Jana came came to Portland in 2004 she fell in love with PSU, its unique students, and urban campus. She cites her amazing colleagues bringing thoughtfulness to their work as one of the rewards of getting to be a part of the Child, Youth, and Family Studies program in the School of Social Work.

Personally, Jana enjoys year round gardening, baking, teaching her dog (Juniper) random tricks, and reading. In the warmer months she seeks rivers, lakes, and oceans and as much time outdoors as she can to enjoy with her kids, friends, and large extended family.

Please join us in welcoming Jana Meinhold to the School of Social Work in this new role!
