Project Status: Planning

The Early Alerts work group is focused on increasing faculty participation in Early Alerts. The workgroup is focusing on how to close the loop with faculty each term and how best to provide quarterly status reports. Additional work is being done to make Early Alerts data accessible so that it can be shared more regularly.

Accomplished

  • Early Alerts in Slate rolled out at the beginning of the Spring term.
  • 1,265 alerts were submitted in Spring
    • 139 of those students received additional outreach from the Progression Team
  • Discussed workgroup charge moving forward
    • Data transparency, reporting, and closing the loop with faculty stood out as the main items we want to work on improving next year

In Progress

  • Continuing to work with OIT to ensure desired Slate enhancements are recognized and incorporated.
    • Beginning discussions of reporting tools and data transparency for Fall 2026

Project Health

  • With the transition to Slate, manual maintenance of the system by UAA and OSS  is no longer needed.
  • Reporting and departmental ability to monitor Early Alerts for critical populations were lacking at launch.
  • Currently, this work is being supported by a project team that includes Student Success, Undergraduate Academic Advising, and Student Academic Support Services, and will continue to collaborate with faculty and staff from other units when possible.
