Mo Willow

Interests:
Social stratification, labor market sociology, occupational attainment, earnings, race and gender, applied demography, Census and survey data methods, and public sector labor markets.

Projects:
My research examines patterns of occupational attainment and earnings stratification across race, gender, and institutional sector using Census and American Community Survey microdata. My dissertation traced these patterns in managerial employment from 1960 to 2021, drawing on harmonized IPUMS data to model access and compensation across six decades of structural change in the U.S. labor market. I am currently extending this work toward publication in sociology and related fields. Separately, through my affiliation with the Population Research Center at PSU, I am developing an applied research agenda focused on the demographic and socioeconomic dynamics of the Portland metropolitan region and Oregon, with a focus on questions of relevance to state and local planners and policymakers.
