Graduate Learning Outcomes

MA/MS Learning Outcomes:

LO1: Advanced Knowledge: Students will understand and apply sociological theoretical frameworks, theories, and concepts related to core areas of sociology and their own research interests.

LO 2: Research: Students will draft a high-quality, professional-quality paper that is potentially publishable.

LO 3: Methods: Students will acquire skills associated with a range of research methods used in sociology

LO 4: Professional Socialization: Students will engage in professional activities, which may include attending and/or presenting at conferences and preparing grant proposals.

 

PhD Learning Outcomes:

LO 1: Advanced Knowledge: Students will understand and apply sociological theoretical frameworks, theories, and concepts related to core areas of sociology and their own research interests.

LO 2: Research: Students will design and conduct a high-quality, original dissertation research project, and write and defend a dissertation that is potentially publishable either as a series of research papers or as a research monograph.

LO 3: Methods: Students will have and be able to apply skills in appropriate methods of analysis, whether quantitative or qualitative, or both, and to collect and integrate information in ways consistent with disciplinary standards in sociology

LO 4: Professional Socialization: Students will engage in professional activities, which may include attending and/or presenting at conferences and preparing grant proposals
