PSU's 2024 Research Administrator of the Year: Becca Lockwood

Becca Lockwood is the Sponsored Projects Officer for Team Pine in PSU's Sponsored Projects Administration (colloquially known as "SPA"), and the 2024 Research Administrator of the Year Award recipient.

Becca currently supports research at PSU by leading a team of Departmental Research Administrators and Grants & Agreements Analysts who assist principal investigators in several units, including the University Centers, Global Diversity & Inclusion, Academic Affairs, and College of the Arts, among others. Becca has been working for PSU since 2017. She began her career in research administration as a student assistant in SPA while she obtained her Bachelor’s degree at PSU. Since then, she has also served as SPA’s Grants & Agreements Intake Coordinator and a Grants and Agreements Analyst. She is passionate about reducing administrative burden, fostering personal connections, and themed office parties.

Kathleen Choi, who oversees and works with Becca in PSU's sponsored projects administration (SPA), says: "In addition to the duties of [her] position, Becca has consistently gone above and beyond to take on special projects and/or provide back‐up coverage as opportunity or the need arises. ...It’s impressive to consider the impact that Becca has had in advancing so many different initiatives in SPA over the years.
