Alex Pletcher (she/her) is a freelance scenic and costume designer for theatre, opera, dance, and music. Favorite local credits include I and You at Artists Repertory Theater, Constant State of Otherness with Unit Souzou, Hindsight 2020 with Risk/Reward Festival, and Let Me Down Easy and Sweat at Profile Theatre, for which she received a Drammy Award Nomination. Outside of Portland, she has worked as a designer and associate designer with critically-acclaimed companies such as the LA Philharmonic, Opera Omaha, The Geffen Playhouse, Edinburgh Fringe, Hollywood Fringe, Pacific Musicworks, Brimmer Street Theatre Co. and the Lorraine Hansberry Theater.
In education, Alex has served as an adjunct faculty member and guest artist at Reed College, Portland State University, Diablo Valley College, and David Douglas High School. To further support educational theater, Alex volunteers with Oregon Thespians as an adjudicator and serves on the Professional Theatre Technician Advisory Committee in East Portland.
In film, television and animation, she has worked in the art department for NBC, ABC, HBO, 20th Century Fox, Legendary Pictures, B1G 10 Network and dozens of other independent producers. Most recently, she wrapped production as a Set Designer on Wildwood with LAIKA.
Alex holds a BA in Theatre for Design and Production from the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television.
