Professor Duncan’s research is focused on the use of the measured properties of light (intensity, polarization, wavelength, spatial coherence, temporal coherence) to infer the properties of matter with which the light has interacted, and on the effects of light on the state of matter. This line of research finds applications in environmental monitoring, human vision, machine vision, non-destructive evaluation, process control, and human health.
