PSU folks who have consistently helped us and our students in various capacities. The intent for this spreadsheet is to be a "living document" that we update as needed as we continue building our relationships with the PSU stakeholders and supporters. It would also help us support each other in case of one's absence.

Program page URLs

Do you hate sending people the long, unwieldy URLs to one of our programs? Who wants to send out https://www.pdx.edu/education/academics/programs/graduate/graduate-teacher-education-program/admissions in an email? Good news: you don't have to! Most of our program pages have short URLs that redirect to the relevant page. For instance:

  • pdx.edu/education/eise will take you to the EISE homepage
    • (full URL: https://www.pdx.edu/academics/programs/graduate/early-intervention-special-education)

In most cases, the URL should be intuitive, as it is whatever the program is routinely shortened to (EISE, VIL, OM, etc.) In some cases, either the program name is short enough to serve as the short URL (pdx.edu/education/early-childhood for the ECE master's degree), or there is a non-standard variant to avoid confusion with other programs or pages (pdx.edu/education/ece-certificate for the ECE certificate of completion). If you'd like to know what a program's short URL is and can't figure it out, ask Daryn for help.

International students requesting fee waivers [08 Aug 2024]

  1. If you have a student that we would call a 'ghost' applicant; ie, their first contact with us is an application:
    1. Please deny the fee waiver.
  2. If you have been working with a prospective student:
    1. Include information about the financial and logistical reality of getting here in your initial conversations. If you need support framing those conversations or sharing resources/websites/information please connect with your colleagues.
    2. If the student you are working with is still interested after gaining an understanding of the financial and logistical requirements, recommend that they talk with the faculty advisor to have a more thorough conversation about the program, and whether they are a good fit for the program. ***Erica added this step after talking with Amanda. What we are thinking here is to have some advising from faculty to assess their readiness; fit; and understanding of the program; sometimes those conversations hold more weight.
    3. If they do all of these things and then ask for a fee waiver, you can ask me and I may or may not approve the waiver depending on the context.
