Mary E. Morningstar, PhD, is a professor in Special Education in the Leadership, Learning, and Counseling Department and teaches courses for preservice students focused on transition and post-secondary outcomes. She is the Director of the Transition Coalition which provides online and hybrid professional development to secondary practitioners. She is also a member of the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition: The Collaborative and provides universal technical assistance to practitioners. Her PhD is from the University of Kansas where she served as faculty for 20 years. Morningstar’s research encompasses college and career readiness for youth with disabilities, teacher education and professional development, and secondary inclusive educational reform. She is the author of The Educator’s Guide to Implementing Transition Planning and Services (2018), and over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous book chapters, monographs, and technical reports.
