The Kiwanis Camp Capstone is a two week supervised and supportive summer experience that serves summer campers with a variety of abilities/disabilities.
Students attend a training session May 19th and then spend two weeks as a counselor at the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp. The two-week sessions correspond to weeks 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 of PSU’s summer session. Room and board are included and tuition remains the same as any other course.
What You Do: As a Kiwanis Camp counselor, you will stretch your vision of who you are and what you can do. You are never required to work alone; experienced and capable staff help you in all aspects of the program. You will provide a tremendous service to an underserved population while learning incredibly practical communication, teamwork and critical reflection skills applicable to ANY major.
What Students Are Saying: See what just a few students have said about their experiences below in the short videos.
Sign Me Up: Before you register you must apply to the course (space is limited). Once your application is accepted you can register for the capstone in either spring or summer terms. Registering in spring term would allow you to utilize your current academic year financial aid. Whether you register in spring or in summer term, you spend two weeks in the summer at the camp.
