Post Doctoral Scholars

Portland State University hosts postdoctoral scholars (postdocs) from a range of disciplines. A postdoc is a person hired by PSU to work with PSU faculty mentors on funded research. This formal mentorship is coupled with a professional development program organized by the Office of Research & Graduate Studies. A variety of workshops and training will be offered to stimulate a productive and creative professional growth environment for postdocs.

Postdoc eligibility

Postdoc scholars must:

  • Have a PhD in the appropriate field
  • Have adequate financial support for living expenses in Portland, Oregon. Financial support can come from any combination of sources such as PSU salary, scholarships or grants, or personal funds.
  • Have English proficiency adequate to be successful in their program at PSU. Scholars may have an English interview, test score or academic documentation to show their English skill level.
