Departure

Departure Notification and Departure Review

All scholars must complete the Departure Notification form on WorldLink before leaving PSU. Please complete the form as soon as you have made travel plans to let us know when you plan to travel home so we can complete your program appropriately. After you have completed the Departure Notification from you will schedule a Departure Review appointment with the scholar advisor to go over your Departure Check List and answer any questions you may have.

30 Day Grace Period

As part of your normal program you have a 30 day grace period from the end date on your DS-2019 to make your departure from the U.S. You may not continue your work or other program activities during the grace period. The grace period is intended to give you extra time to make travel arrangements, prepare for you move home and to have an opportunity to do some vacation travel in the U.S. if you wish.

Early Departure

If you plan to complete your program and leave PSU more than 15 days before your program end date, you must notify ISSS of your planned departure date by completing the Departure Notification form on WorldLink. You must also notify ISSS if any J-2 family members plan to return home early.

Keep Your Documents

Keep all of your official immigration and government documents after you return home. Do not throw them away! Keep them in a safe place with other important papers. You may need these documents again if you return to the U.S. in any status other than a tourist. If you obtained a Social Security Card and number, the number is yours for the rest of your life, so be sure to keep the card too.

Thank You!

We hope you enjoyed your stay at Portland State University.
