Faculty Proctoring Options
PSU Academic Testing Services’ hours of operation for testing are between 9:30 AM and 4:45 PM, Monday - Friday. If your exam needs to be taken outside of those hours, please see the options below for the alternatives we can offer to support your student’s accommodated exams.
Request ATS proctors to administer the exam in a location you arrange
ATS can schedule two of our trained proctors to work with you to proctor your exam outside of our business hours. Please see the steps below to schedule;
- Email Academic Testing Services: Send an email to Academic Testing Services at least 2 weeks (14 business days) before the exam date and include the following information in your email:
- Course name and number
- Number of students testing
- Date and time proctors are needed
- Location you have reserved for the exam (please include building name and room number)
- Where proctors should pick up and return exam
- Wait for Confirmation: Academic Testing Services will confirm whether proctors are available for the requested date and time.
- Proctor Scheduling and Connection: Once availability is confirmed, ATS will schedule proctors and connect them with faculty to exchange contact and logistical information about the exam.
- Exam Day Procedure: Proctors will arrive at the designated exam location to:
- Pick up the exam materials
- Proctor the exam according to faculty and accommodation requirements and ATS policy
- Return the completed exams to the agreed drop-off location
Reserve the CLAS Testing Center
The CLAS Testing Center (located in the Vernier Science Center) has a general distraction-reduced classroom that seats 16 students and six private rooms for student testing.
If you, or a designated proctor you have selected, are available to proctor but need a space to proctor your exam in as it falls outside of our hours of operation, please see the steps below to reserve this space.
- Email Academic Testing Services at testingservices@pdx.edu to request use of the CLAS Testing Center. Please include the date(s) and time(s) you want to use the space, and how many students will be testing.
- Wait for confirmation from Academic Testing Services regarding the availability of the CLAS Testing Center for your requested time.
- Once confirmed, we will provide details about the space, including:
- How to access the room
- Room setup and technology available
- Any additional guidelines for use specific to the students who will be testing?
Please note: You or your department will be responsible for providing a Proctor and managing the exam administration during your reserved time. After your exam, please ensure the room is left clean and all materials are removed or secured as needed.
ATS is not responsible for the academic integrity of exams or occurrences that take place within the testing space while ATS professional staff or proctors are not involved or present for the exam taking place.
