How to Apply

Portland State University offers fully online and flexible bachelor’s, undergraduate certificate, master’s, graduate certificate, licensure and endorsement programs. To enroll as an online student at PSU, follow the steps for your student type and ensure you choose the right program for you.

Undergraduate

  1. Find your program among our online bachelor’s degree offerings.
  2. Make an appointment with a pathway advisor for that program. It’s important to review your past coursework to determine what courses you’d need to take to complete a degree at PSU.
  3. Connect with an admissions counselor. Our admissions counselors can answer all of your questions related to the enrollment process.
  4. Review the admissions requirements for freshmen and transfers to determine which application you should fill out.
  5. Apply to PSU as an undergraduate student!

Postbaccalaureate

  1. Find your program among our online bachelor’s degree offerings.
  2. Make and appointment with a pathway advisor for that program. It’s important to review your past coursework to determine what courses you’d need to take to complete a degree at PSU and if a postbaccalaureate program is the right type of program for you.
  3. Connect with an admissions counselor. Our admissions counselors can answer all of your questions related to the enrollment process.
  4. Review the admissions requirements for postbaccalaureates to determine if you meet the criteria for admissions.
  5. Apply to PSU as a postbaccalaureate student!

International

PSU cannot issue I-20s for F1 students who have been admitted to fully online degree programs. If you are admitted to a fully online program, you will not be able to apply for a student visa to travel to the U.S. to study. If you will only be taking PSU online courses and will not be entering the U.S. with a student visa, you may apply for part-time or full-time studies, with no visa required.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

All admitted undergraduate and postbaccalaureate students must satisfy the English language proficiency requirement before they can enroll in regular academic classes.

Graduate

  1. Review the programs offered and their application deadlines, procedures and requirements.
  2. Contact the department for your program with questions.
  3. Apply to PSU as a graduate student!

Other Applicant

For students seeking a certificate of completion or licensure, be sure to review the details for your online program and follow the departmental application deadlines, procedures, and requirements.

Students interested in taking individual online courses outside of a formal program of study should enter PSU as a non-degree student.
