How to Apply

Undergraduate Admission Process

  1. Review the online program that interests you and note any program-specific admission requirements.

  2. Meet all admission requirements.

    Transfer Students
    Students with 30 or more transferable quarter credits (20 semester credits) earned after high school graduation will be reviewed for admission as a transfer student.

    • Minimum GPA requirements:
      2.25, or 2.00 if student presents a transferable Associate's Degree or an Oregon Transfer Module (OTM)
    • Complete WR121 or equivalent with a grade of C or better
    • Meet secondary language proficiency requirement (Oregon High School graduates only)

    Co-Admission
    Students seeking admission at both PSU and a partner community college will be reviewed for Co-Admission.

    • Meet the admission requirements as a freshmen, transfer, or postbaccalaureate student. 
    • Enroll in classes at PSU within 10 terms or your application will be cancelled.
  3. Visit the Become a Student page to apply online. Choose the "Undergraduate-Transfer" link if you want to attend Portland State only, or the "Co-Admission" link if you want to attend a partner community college and PSU simultaneously.

  4. Go to Portland State University's online application system and create a login and password. (Remember to write down your info so you can access your application later.) Transfer students select Undergraduate - TRANSFER and students seeking co-admission select CO-ADMIT Undergraduate as your student type from the drop down menu.

  5. Submit a non-refundable $50 application fee, payable via Visa or MasterCard. A $2 processing fee applies.
    If you are eligible for the PSU fee deferral, you will be able to choose this option for payment.

  6. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities you attended. If you have earned more than 30 college credits, you do not need to submit high school transcripts.

Graduate Admission Process

  1. Review the online program that interests you and note the program's application deadlines, procedures, and requirements.

  2. Submit your Graduate Application. The application fee is $65 plus a $2 processing fee; both fees can be paid with Visa or MasterCard.

Other Applicant Admission Process

Students who are not seeking a degree but are interested in taking online courses toward certificates of completion, continuing education units, professional development, or personal enrichment should review the online program of interest and follow the departmental application deadlines, procedures, and requirements.
