Nate is a lifelong Oregonian and a proud PSU alumnus (B.S. Sociology 2014, M.S. Sociology 2016), having first arrived as a transfer student in 2011. As an undergraduate student, he helped establish the PSU Sociology Club as an official student organization and worked as a research assistant for faculty in the Departments of Sociology and Psychology. As a graduate student, he held multiple research assistantships involving academic advising, student success, and working with institutional data -- first within the Sociology Department focusing on undergraduate majors, and then for the Pre-Teacher Education program in what is now Advising and Career Services.
Nate's experiences as a PSU student and student worker transitioned organically into a professional career beginning in 2016, with a unique split position that continued to provide academic advising to Pre-Education students, combined with a new role as a data analyst for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Dean’s Office. In 2018, he joined the Business Intelligence Team in PSU's Office of Information Technology, with a new position that maintains a 50% assignment to the CLAS Dean’s Office for data reporting, analysis, training, and related support. His primary activities involve development of reports and dashboards in Cognos and Tableau, with a focus on enrollment management and student success.
Outside of PSU, Nate enjoys woodworking, reading science fiction, and spending time with his wife and two children at their home in Beaverton.
