Portland State University’s long-running training program in occupational health psychology has received an additional year of support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (CDC/NIOSH). The supplemental funding will help advance PSU’s work in occupational health and Total Worker Health®—a focus of the Psychology Department since the program’s launch in 2003.
The project is led by Professor Liu-Qin Yang, Principal Investigator and Director of the training program, with Co-Investigators Tori Crain and Cynthia Mohr. The new award will directly support several PSU graduate students through funding, mentoring, and applied research experiences that prepare them for careers in worker safety and well-being. Additional support from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and Research & Graduate Studies (RGS) helps sustain the program’s long-term success.
This recognition comes at an exciting time for Professor Yang, who was recently named a Fellow of the American Psychological Association’s Division 14 (Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology)—an honor that reflects her influential contributions to the field.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Yang and the program team on securing this important CDC/NIOSH funding and continuing PSU’s nationally recognized leadership in occupational health psychology training.
