January 2025
Welcome!
The last five years have seen tremendous changes from Covid changing how every company and organization operates, often using technology to enable new and better workflows. Now generative AI is changing things again. In both cases, it is critical to develop skills to manage technology, lest you be managed by technology.
The Portland State University Engineering and Technology Department welcomes engineers, scientists, and technologists from all disciplines to advance their skills and careers. Whether it is with a class, a seminar, a graduate certificate, a Master’s degree, or doctoral degree, the ETM Department covers a range of topics to be prepared for the future.
Recently, we have incorporated a learning lab with a novel one day format for a one credit, hands-on opportunity to get up to speed on a particular subject. Recent learning labs have covered topics about the use of generative AI in developing new product or business plan proposals and in the use of AI for assessing new technologies. In Spring we will offer two learning labs, one in cybersecurity technology innovations and another in the adoption of generative AI. Both sessions will be on different Saturdays.
Enrollment in Winter 2025 is up and we welcome new Master’s applicants throughout the year with the opportunity to start in Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer. Life doesn’t stop for a Fall enrollment so we don’t make people wait to start on the next part of their career journey.
