Crisis Communications Plan

What to Expect: Our Commitment to Communication

In a crisis, our top priority is the safety of our students, faculty and staff. We are committed to providing timely and accurate information as quickly as possible. We understand that not all information is available at once, but we will share what we know, when we know it and let you know what to expect next. We ask for your patience as we work to confirm all details.

How We Communicate: Your Guide to Information

We use multiple channels to ensure you receive critical information quickly. Here is a brief guide on where to look for official updates:

  • PSU Alert: This is our primary and fastest channel for emergencies. You will receive an alert via text, email, and/or phone call for immediate threats.
  • University Website: Check the PSU homepage (pdx.edu) for a prominent banner with updates. PSU Alerts are also posted on pdx.edu/alerts and archived for 6 months.
  • Social Media: Our official social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram will post alerts and provide real-time updates.
  • Email Messaging: University communications will be sent to students, faculty and staff pdx.edu email addresses with detailed information and any relevant updates and safety information.
