Geology

Geology is the study of Earth and planets, and the processes that act on them through time. As geologists, we use a broad toolkit including physics, chemistry, and mathematics to answer questions of Earth's paleoclimate; earthquake, landslide, and volcanic hazards; and even formation of the universe.

Our graduates go on to careers in natural hazards analysis and planning, climate change research, assessment of ground and surface water resources, exploration, development and management of mineral and energy resources, geotechnical and geoengineering studies, urban planning and GIS, and teaching.
