PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Starting Thursday, Hollywood Theatre begins a six-week series dedicated to Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, one of only four directors in history to win top prizes at Cannes, Venice and Berlin.

Panahi has continued making films, despite facing censorship and imprisonment in Iran.

Portland State University film studies professor Mark Berrettini will introduce each screening, running Thursdays through May 28.

It's part of a continued collaboration between Hollywood Theatre and Portland State.

Joining us in the studio on Monday for ARC PDX to talk about it was Ted Hurliman, the director of education and special projects at Hollywood Theatre, as well as Berrettini.
