Calendar "A pianist full of fire and warmth" (Plain-Dealer), Daria Rabotkina takes to the stage for a program that explores the power and possibility of a musical moment. Selections from the Moments Musicaux of Schubert and Rachmaninoff juxtapose the Viennese composer's restrained poetic beauty with the Russian's titanic range of sonic possibilities — from whispers of tender melody to the massive clang of cathedral bells. And in a work she's championed in concert halls across the country, Rabotkina brings the afternoon full circle with Paul Harvey Aurandt's Sonata in B-flat Minor, in which the composer pays homage to the emotional sweep of both Schubert and Rachmaninoff.
